Baseless claims were lodged against FSRR by a neighbor residing approximately 360 feet down the road. The grievant neighbor claimed that a groundhog and squirrel on his property came from the rescue. FSRR does not release wildlife near the facility, due to the busy road.  FSRR practices safe and hygienic containment of animals at all times, in full compliance with DNR regulations.

The targeted, unfounded claims resulted in a notice to shut down. FSRR was subsequently advised that they may operate until further notice.

At the next board meeting, several members of the public passionately spoke in favor of the rescue's service to the community.

Months had gone by before the decision was made to deny a text amendment for animal rescues in R1, effectively forcing FSRR to shut down with no notice of appeal. The commission voted 5-0 (see their names on the receipt page). Yet, FSRR was not formally notified, nor do minutes expound upon details or explanations as to why the 5-0 decision was made. Notice on our "receipt" page, the decision comes after a more amenable response to data center zoning.
